Identity-first decisions are self-limiting

2025-09-18

"I'm just a frontend developer" becomes why you wait days for backend fixes you could do.
"I'm an engineer, not a salesperson" becomes why your product never finds users.
"I'm not a morning person" becomes the reason you never try working at dawn.
"I'm not good at math" becomes why you outsource every number.
"I'm not creative" becomes why you never start that side project.
"I'm a specialist" becomes why you ignore how other disciplines connect.

The moment we make it about who we are instead of what we can do, it becomes a prison.

Every "I am" or "I'm not" closes a door before we even try the handle.

It's not about becoming someone else. It's about doing without checking if they match our identity first.
